CANDLE SAFETY & CARE
TRIM YOUR WICK
For the best performance, always trim your candle wick before each lighting session. Aim for a wick height of about 1/4 inch (6mm). A properly trimmed wick helps to prevent excessive soot, promotes a stable flame, and enhances the scent throw. If you notice the flame flickering or producing excessive smoke, this might indicate that the wick needs trimming.
WHEN TO STOP BURNING
To maximize your candle's life and scent throw, burn it for 2 to 4 hours at a time. This period is long enough to create a full melt pool, allowing the wax to melt evenly while preventing excessive overheating, which could lead to soot formation and generally degrade the candle’s quality. If your candle becomes too hot to touch, extinguish it immediately and let it cool down before the next use.
STORE THEM PROPERLY
Proper storage can significantly affect the lifespan and fragrance of your candles. Store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature changes, as these can cause the wax to fade or warp. Keep the candles covered when not in use, ideally in their original packaging, to protect them from dust and environmental conditions.
SAFETY FIRST
Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Use a coaster or tray to catch any drips. Avoid placing the candle near anything flammable, such as curtains, paper, or wood surfaces. Keep the candle out of drafts and away from pets and children. NEVER leave a burning candle unattended, and extinguish it before leaving the room or going to sleep.
NEVER BLOW OUT YOUR CANDLE
For the safest and cleanest extinguishing method, use a candle snuffer. This tool allows you to put out the flame without causing hot wax to splatter or producing smoke that can linger in the air. If you don't have a snuffer, you can gently dip the wick into the melted wax before lifting it back up. This method helps prevent the formation of soot at the tip.
REPURPOSE YOUR VESSEL
Once you've enjoyed your candle and it has burned down, consider giving the jar a new life. Allow any remaining wax to cool and harden, then remove it by placing the container in the freezer for a few hours. This can help the wax pop out more easily. Clean the jar thoroughly with warm, soapy water, and if there's a wick tab, carefully remove it. You can then repurpose the jar for storage, as a plant container, or as a decorative piece around your home.
